How To Choose The Best Kind Of Cookware
You can find some really amazing sets of cookware available now. Some newer brand names have emerged like Rachael Ray to battle it out with the old favorites like Cuisinart and All Clad.
Before you start searching for your ideal set though then take a minute to think about exactly what type would be best for you. There are lots of types but it pretty much boils down to only 3 main categories, the first one is stainless steel which is always popular and is very durable. The next category is non-stick sets which are typically made from aluminum which has been hard anodized, and then a special coating is applied to the inside to stop food sticking to it, they are really easy to clean but the coating is not that durable. Finally you have the heavy and robust cast iron sets which are great but require a lot of maintenance to get the most out of them.

Stainless steel: If you are after a stainless steel cookware set then the brand with the best reputation in this category surely has to be Cuisinart. If you go for their Multiclad Pro set which is more expensive than their other ranges, then you will get an aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel, to help transfer heat quickly from the stove to the food, and it is well worth the extra money. You don’t have to plump for the more expensive set though, the basic range is still fantastic value for money and the 12 piece set costs half as much as the 12 piece Multiclad Pro one.
Non Stick: I find this the hardest category to choose a brand for, just because there are a huge range of options in this category and they are all very similar in terms of both price and quality. As all the sets are so similar then it is actually good when somebody dares to be different, which is why I picked Rachael Ray for the best non stick cookware set as they dared to buck the trend and not make sets which were pure grey or black, and instead their dark grey set has bright orange accents to help make it stand out. They are hard anodized aluminum with good solid handles on the lids and silicone on all the handles so you don’t burn yourself but can still put them straight from the stove right into the oven.
As this set is made purely of aluminum then it gives fantastic heat transference without any cold and hot spots, and because it has the non stick coating on the inside then they are actually a doddle to clean and get any burnt food off. Remember to only use plastic or wood utensils with these sets as metal ones can chip and scratch the fragile coating in them.
Cast Iron: This is another category I struggled with, at first I immediately thought of Le Creuset who make premium quality cast iron cookware, but then they also cost a lot too. Whereas a company like Lodge make perfectly good cookware for a fraction of the price. You can actually get a high quality 5 piece set of non-enameled cast iron cookware from Lodge for less than 70 dollars.
